Pedro Sarmiento de Gamboa narrates: "... that they entered (the Chancas) by a district of the Cuzco called Chocos-Chacona, they were courageously refuted by that district, where they tell that a woman called Chanan Cori Coca fought manfully and so much did by the hands against the chancas who had attacked there, that made them drawback, which was the reason why all the (chancas) who saw her fainted. " This circumstance was used by Pachacuti to attack with redoubled vigor and achieve victory.
